First things first, we wanted to make sure you know what it looks like when you’re not using your electric toothbrush correctly. Flying spit, shirt stains, and toothpaste rings in the sink are actually not a necessary part of using an electric toothbrush. Before we share our recommendations for how to use an electric toothbrush, here’s a few examples of how not to use an electric toothbrush that just may make you laugh:
How to Properly Use an Electric Toothbrush:
When using an electric toothbrush, you’ll want to hold the brush parallel to the floor. Allow the bristles to rest against the side of your teeth.
Don’t press or scrub. Run the bristles along the curves of your teeth. Make sure you get each one – and the gumline! Electric toothbrushes are great because they do most of the work!
Brush for 2 minutes, focus on 30 seconds per quadrant in your mouth. Many electric toothbrushes now have built-in timers that tell you when 30 seconds is up.
