Children's Medicaid

The Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS) and Iowa Medicaid Enterprise (IME) recently announced children’s dental benefits for Medicaid will be managed by Delta Dental and another dental benefits administrator starting July 1, 2021. The IME Information Letter (IL) can be found here. 

As stated in the IL, children in Iowa will continue to receive a comprehensive dental benefit, with no annual benefit maximum. This benefit will also continue to provide medically necessary orthodontia. Delta Dental will begin recruiting providers for the Children’s Medicaid network. 

Please note, the Hawki benefit will remain the same and there will be no changes. Delta Dental of Iowa intends to be an administrator for Iowa's Children Medicaid dental benefits. We continue to work with the state and will be in touch with providers when more information is available.
