What is the difference between Delta Dental's three plan options?
Choose from three plan designs:
- Platinum - our richest plan with a $2,000 annual benefit maximum. This plan covers check-ups, cleanings, x-rays, bridges, crowns, cavity repair, oral surgery, and implants. There are waiting periods for some services.
- Preferred - our most popular plan with a $1,000 annual benefit maximum. This plan covers check-ups, cleanings, x-rays, bridges, crowns, cavity repair, oral surgery, and implants. There are waiting periods for some services.
- Preventive - covers care for check-ups, cleanings, x-rays, and cavity repair.
Benefits for children under 21
If you have children on your plan under the age of 21, you will need to decide if you would like to include the Affordable Care Act defined pediatric dental essential health benefit.
- Prime Plans - These plans do not include the ACA defined pediatric dental essential health benefit (EHB). Adults and children will have the same copayments, deductibles and annual benefit maximums.
- Plus Plans - These plans include the ACA defined pediatric dental essential health benefit (EHB). Children and adults will have different benefits. These Delta Dental plans for children include:
- Coverage up to age 21 which exceeds the ACA requirement
- No annual or lifetime benefit maximum for children's dental benefits
- Medically necessary orthodontia coverage
- Out-of-pocket limit of $350 per child or $700 for all children on the policy for 2021. For 2022, the out-of-pocket limit will be $375 per child or $750 for all children on the policy.
