Delta Dental to Tackle Using Vulnerability in Leadership in Next Green Room Series

The connection between authenticity and vulnerability is essential for effective leadership. A 2023 survey of more than 12,000 global employees showed that employees were more willing to go the extra mile when their manager was open and showed vulnerability, according to think tank, Catalyst. Join Delta Dental of Iowa for its next virtual Green Room, “Leading Authentically: The Role of Vulnerability,” on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at noon CST.

This session of the Green Room offers a conversation hosted by April Schmaltz, president and CEO of Delta Dental of Iowa and her guests Tiffany O’Donnell, mayor, Cedar Rapids, and CEO of Women Lead Change and Courtney Misener, emotional health advocate.

Attendees at this free virtual event will listen as panelists discuss how vulnerability can enhance leadership. How leaders can build trust and inspire their teams to reach their full potential.

“Good leaders surround themselves with smart people, ask for advice, and empower their teams to do what’s best for the organization,” said April Schmaltz, president and CEO of Delta Dental of Iowa. “By showing vulnerability in not having all the answers and asking ‘what do you think?’ creates transparency and authenticity. It shows that you value the expertise and judgment of your team members, fostering a culture where everyone feels heard and respected.”
